TRADE
Trading was an integral part of urban life, and some of the archeological finds from the Lauby site provide evidence of commercial activity. These include lot weights (part of a set used to weigh goods) and an indicator from a set of weighing scales. An exceptional find is a 14th-century seal that was used by cloth merchants. An inscription on the seal indicates that it originated in the city of Leuven (in the Flemish province of Brabant, now in Belgium), an important centre of the cloth trade. This shows that cloth was transported over long distances
