NATURE AND LANDSCAPE OF OSTRAVAThe exhibition "Nature and Landscape of Ostrava" is structured according to biotopes characteristic of Ostrava. - Urban landscape - Forests of the Ostrava region - Rivers, ponds and meadows - Floodplain forests in the Odra River Basin - Agricultural landscape
The structure of the botanical part The botanical part is placed inside the cocoons which are based on the organic cell structure, and resemble plant buds. Vegetation is represented by fungi, mosses and higher plants. Fungi are represented by models made of Modurit (106 species) and polypores (9 species). Mosses are represented by 23 species. Higher plants are represented by 145 exhibited species. Higher plants are exhibited in the form of herbaria, also using watercolours from the collections of the Ostrava Museum (70 species). Woody plants are presented as longitudinal and cross sections of trunks and branches (31 species). Woody plants are also represented by woody veneers (14 species). The botanical exhibition also includes examples of fruits, mainly in the urban landscape section, as well as cones (17 species in total). Characteristic tree species of floodplain forests and oak hornbeam forests are represented by tall trunks (11 species). A total of 440 plant species are presented. The diversity of Ostrava's landscape is also illustrated in photo albums presenting a further 92 species. Interactive touchscreens complement the botanical section with photographs and short films about individual biotopes. The botanical section presents a total of 762 plant species in various forms. |
