FORESTS OF THE OSTRAVA REGIONThe Ostrava Basin was characterized by waterlogged oak-beech forests, which have been preserved in small areas, e.g. in the Komora and Triangl Nature Reserve in Černý les and on the edges of the mining area of the Ostrava Basin. Lime-oak forests occur on elevated terraces and hillsides. Fragments of species-rich beech forests can be found, for example, at Landek. Most of the forests in the Ostrava Basin are managed for forestry purposes, with conifers predominating. |
