Calligraphy Set (The Art of Beautiful Writing)

In the past, all writing in Japan was done with calligraphy brushes, whether for calligraphy as an art form or simply for writing characters—just as quills and inkwells were once used in Europe. In modern times, brushes have been replaced by ballpoint pens and calligraphy markers. Even today, however, children in Japan take calligraphy sets to school, as calligraphy is part of their basic education.
